Special Olympics and Boy Scouts are just two special groups that keep the Bill Hoover family, ‘WestSide Clan’, active. Other busy activities for our family members are listed below! The Hoover family consists of Bill & Peggy plus 3 grown children + a son-in-law & now 2 grandchildren — Brielle & Samantha! We are fortunate to have all 3 children close by in our local vicinity!
~ Monica, 45 (ran the 2008 Chicago Marathon 2 days prior to b-day #30 on OCT 12 & ran the Indy Mini, May 2009), a Ball State 2002 graduate in elementary / special education – Spanish minor ~ teaching at the Excel Center, Lafayette IN since June 2023 (previously, Sommer Elementary, North Montgomery Community School Corporation, since August 2005)! She spent one college semester in Segovia, Spain & began her teaching career in Santiago, Dominican Republic (DR), teaching there 3 years. <> **Monica married Jairo Marmolejos on July 24, 2010!!
~ Jairo, 41, graduated May 2011 from Ivy Tech in Accounting. He is now employed with Purdue University College of Agriculture, Botany & Plant Pathology, Agriculture Business Office, Lead Business Assistant as of 2021 (previously with Purdue University, College of Engineering, Aeronautics & Astronautics, April 2015). Originally from Santiago, Dominican Republic, Jairo became a U.S. Citizen on October 18, 2012 – CONGRATS!
~ Grandbaby #1 (Monica & Jairo’s) arrived May 13, 2012 @ 2:42pm, 7.04 lbs, 19.5 inches – Brielle Arelis Marmolejos! Docs were right on!?!
~ Grandbaby #2 (Monica & Jairo’s) arrived January 28, 2016 @ 8:41am, 7.2 lbs, 19.5 inches – Samantha Jo Marmolejos!
Both Granddaughters begin new schools in 2023 & are Scouts now … as of 2021. Watch out for popcorn sales & more!!!
** Celebrated Brielle’s bday #1 & #3 in Greater Lafayette then bday #2 & a Happy Mother’s Day with family at Pam & Alan Schwartz dairy farm, Markle IN (sister & brother-in-law). Mother Norma Jean even attended!! #4 was in Linden. B(rielle) turned 5 [WOW!] the day prior to Mothers’ Day — celebrated both days on Sunday! Bday #6 was more low-key, BUT on Mother’s Day as was her birth! Celebrate bday #7 on Mother’s Day – low key. #8 will be celebrated a bit differently in 2020 just with close family/friends! #9 Celebrated with family at home, but did use a softball bat on a mini piñata in the garage! #10 What will this bday bring besides double digits?!? #11 Celebrated with school friends with a sleepover & then with family!!!
** Celebrated Samantha’s bday #1 on her birthday — Winter One-derland theme — lots of snowmen and snowballs! The next day Bpa & Grandma took sister, Brielle, to Disney World! Wonderful trip! #2, celebrated on Connolly Street, West Lafayette IN — basically just family, low key. She must have been overwhelmed as she started crying shortly after the family began singing ‘Happy Birthday’. Samantha did enjoy all else! Bday #3 theme = Greatest Showman — did she love it! #4, low-key celebration on Connolly Street w/family & friends … Tamara Benjamin’s bday is the same day. Aunt Jennifer’s is 2 days prior! #5, REALLY?!? Can’t be! A lower-key celebration with immediate family! #6, Growing, growing, and growing some more! Celebrated with family & more! #7 bday, WOW — with friends & family! #8 bday, Another year celebrated with school friends one day & family the next!

This is another important mission of the Hoover family. The local project, based on the national project — Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHM), was started in part by Bill within the Greater Lafayette community!! St. Andrew UMC is a support church in this community effort.
